Behind the Worker | Scott Newman

Four years have flown by for Scott ‘Noz’ Newman, FGJV Trainer and Assessor based at Lobs Hole. As a Berridale local, Noz has fished, camped and motorbiked around much of the Snowy Mountains region.

During the original Snowy Scheme, Noz’s grandfather owned a bakery in Cooma.

Noz brought his safety background to Future Gen’s Training team and he loves the variety his work provides. In a given day, Noz might assess drivers for articulated dump truck (ADT) awareness and radio protocols, provide training to underground workers, help induct new starters, and conduct safety mask fit tests.

“I get to see every part of the project - from the office to the tunnels - and everything in between,” Noz said.

Being part of this iconic project’s second phase is rewarding for Noz, and he has advice for adjusting to remote work life. Noz says speak with family often, check-in on co-workers who seem out of sorts, and take a moment to appreciate our natural surroundings.

Thanks for everything, Noz!
