Did you know? Travelling formwork at Snowy 2.0!
At Tantangara, our expert team is using travelling formwork on rails to transform a circular Snowy 2.0 tunnel into a giant square intake structure - measuring 11.5 x 11.5 metres!
The multi-level formwork, which weighs between 82 and 120 tonnes, is modified for each concrete pour with precision laser-cut wood shutters. Every concrete section aligns perfectly with the last, guided by 3D models.
It’s a powerful mix of engineering, innovation, and teamwork, and a great example of the complex construction under way at Snowy 2.0!
Whittens is proud to be working with Future Generation Joint Venture – FGJV for project owner Snowy Hydro, along with formwork partner Doka Australia.
Future Generation Joint Venture is the principal contractor for project owner Snowy Hydro, delivering the iconic Snowy 2.0, a major Snowy Scheme expansion underpinning Australia’s transition to a renewable energy future.
