TBM 4 is on its way!
Marica will soon be home to TBM 4, which was manufactured in Europe, assembled and tested in China before arriving in Australia. Ahead of being shipped to Australia, TBM 4 passed factory acceptance testing to ensure that all its major systems (mechanical, electrical, control and hydraulics) were functioning.
Giovanni Pellitteri, TBM & Fixed Plant Mechanical Manager at Future Generation JV, is responsible for overseeing the assembly, commissioning, and maintenance of our TBM machines.
“My role involves coordinating a large team of 100 trades people and 20 staff members to ensure that all mechanical operations are executed safely, efficiently and in line with project timelines”, Giovanni said.
His team are working collaboratively with FGJV’s Traffic and Transport team in coordinating logistics and the safe delivery of TBM 4 to site.
The Traffic and Transport team, lead by Mick Courtney, have been meticulously planning ahead of the super load deliveries arrival. They have been in close coordination with Transport for NSW, Councils and police to ensure the safe deliver of TBM super load deliveries. To minimise disruptions to road users and the community, loads wider than 4-metres will travel on the Snowy Mountains Highway at night. All oversize moves will be transported under pilot escort and at times, depending on size, police escort.
The transport and re-assembly of TBM 4 on site is a key milestone for the project. TBM 4 was specially designed to meet the unique geological and environmental challenges of the Snowy 2.0 project within Kosciuszko National Park. TBM 4 is a multi-mode TBM capable of operating through variable ground conditions, including the Long-plain fault zone.
