Snowy 2.0 Project Celebrates SBAT Graduates

Future Generation Joint Venture, as the principal contractor delivering the Snowy 2.0 Project, is proud to celebrate the graduation of the latest cohort of students from the NSW Department of Education’s School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBAT) program.

This is the first time the Certificate II in Supply Chain Operations has been delivered through the SBAT program, with eight Year 12 students from Monaro High School completing the qualification.

Representatives from Snowy Hydro, Future Generation Joint Venture, TAFE NSW, NX Blue, as well as Steve Whan, Member for Monaro and NSW Minister for Skills, TAFE and Tertiary Education, came together at the Snowy 2.0 Concrete Segment Factory in Cooma to mark the students’ achievement.

Since 2021, around 30 local high school students have participated in SBAT placements with Future Generation Joint Venture.

The supply chain operations qualification, which equips students with practical skills in logistics, safety and real-world supply chain processes, was launched last year as a partnership between Monaro High School, TAFE NSW and Snowy 2.0.

Since the Snowy 2.0 SBAT program started in 2021, the cohorts of local senior students have also achieved qualifications in Certificate III Process Manufacturing, Certificate III Business, and Certificate II Workplace Skills.

Through the SBAT program, students spent three days a week at school, one day at TAFE, and one day in paid, on-the-job learning. These students are graduating with a nationally recognised qualification and a clear pathway into a growing industry.
Through collaborations like these, FGJV is committed to creating enduring value for the Australian community, fostering a positive, sustainable legacy for future generations while preserving the unique environmental heritage of the Snowy region.
