Behind the Worker: Bishal Sakopta, Information Technology Engineer

From Pokhara to Lobs Hole: Bishal Sakopta’s Journey Across Continents and IT Code

Lobs Hole’s IT office has become a familiar stop for many on the Snowy Delivery team—and chances are, if you’ve dropped by, you’ve met Bishal Sakopta. Known for his calm demeanour and swift problem-solving skills, Bishal has become a cornerstone of the team since joining two years ago, with a queue often out the door awaiting IT a okdvice and support.

Born in the picturesque city of Pokhara, Nepal, Bishal’s early life was spent in the natural beauty and cultural richness of his homeland. His family later moved to Kathmandu, where he completed most of his schooling, including three years at Kathmandu University High School. It was there that Bishal’s curiosity about the world began to flourish, sparked by friendships with students from Nepal’s diverse regions.

Initially planning to study in the United States, Bishal pivoted to Australia after encouragement from cousins living in Sydney. At just 18, he arrived in Australia and quickly began his studies at Charles Sturt University, pursuing a Bachelor of IT Engineering with a major in software development. The transition wasn’t easy—especially learning programming from scratch—but Bishal adapted quickly and found his rhythm both academically and personally.

Despite the distance, Nepal remains close to Bishal’s heart. His childhood memories and cultural roots continue to shape his identity, and a year-long visit from his parents in Sydney helped bridge the gap between his two worlds.

Today, Bishal is not only a skilled IT professional but also a symbol of resilience and global ambition. His story is a reminder of the sparks that drive us—and the journeys they ignite.
