Outstanding Work by Leed on Snowy 2.0
Leed Engineering is one of the longest-serving contractors on the Snowy 2.0 project and is proud to be involved in our world leading energy project.
Their first challenge was completing the Exploratory Works Road Contract project for Snowy Hydro to establish site access into Lobs Hole, constructing access roads and bridges from 2019.
From August 2020, Leed subcontracted to Future Generation JV for Snowy 2.0 Main Works, initially maintaining the project roads at Lobs Hole. Leed maintains a strong presence at Lobs Hole and has subsequently expanded to construction activities at Marica and Tantangara.
Leed has specialist expertise in the construction of water treatment plants, water storages including dams and reservoirs, pump stations, pipelines, roads, bulk earthworks and structural concrete.
Founded in 2001, Leed Engineering has become a national provider with staff, offices and workshops in Adelaide, Bendigo, Melbourne and Cooma. Leed has been working in the Snowy Monaro region since 2012 and is a privately owned Australian civil contractor delivering projects across Australia. They also work on a range of projects with Snowy Hydro.
Leed workers on Snowy 2.0 fill a wide range of roles, including specialised engineering, project management, HSEQ, and construction roles including superintendents, supervisors and leading hands.
Leed has a plant maintenance team dedicated to keeping their plant safe and in operation. Superintendent, Matt ‘Marley’ Carter says, “It is such a unique project; the moving parts and large scale of the job is very rewarding.”
Leed currently has some 200 workers on the project. Half the team is from the Snowy Monaro region, with the remainder from Victoria, South Australia, Queensland and NSW who stay in Adaminaby during their swings. All workers are on a 14/7 roster. Leed is a very tight-knit team, and their culture positively impacts the broader Snowy Delivery team.
Our Leed co-workers are excited to be part of a transformative project that will contribute to Australia’s transition to renewable energy. Project Director Jamess Collings’ Snowy 2.0 experience started back in July 2019.
“For me, the most satisfying thing about the project now is being able to drive around the project and finding it hard to find areas that Leed has not been involved in, in some capacity,” James said.
Leed hope to continue their long-standing relationship with Future Gen to deliver more scope in the future. Marley concludes, “We are here to help deliver this amazing, transformational project.”
